So this issue may or may not be a big thing to some, but I've had my nerite snails for over a year now, possibly two; and have noticed recently that my oldest snails show some pretty worn out shells; to the alarming point of looking like they've actually been drilled into.

I don't believe it's any of my fish doing it, at least I'd hope not; I have tiger barbs, Odessa's, danios and a BP, some corydoras too; none of which ive ever seen even glance twice at the snails.

What I'm suspecting is some sort of nutrient deficiency in the snails diet, creating the poor shell development, can anyone please weigh in on this?

The snails aren't given anything special, I pretty much leave them to the algae and fish waste on the bottom; guessing this could be a warning to start adding green veg etc though...

If you have fairly soft water they may not be getting enough calcium for their shell. You can try dropping in a Tums tablet or a piece of cuttle bone for the snails to munch on. Also feeding them veggies rich in calcium could help.
