Hello All

I have some snails I've had for years start laying eggs like crazy. I've read the hatchlings need brackish water to survive, but before I clean off the eggs I wondered if a tank with aquarium salt would allow them to survive?

I've also used aquarium salt for years, and the sediments on the side of the tank look very salty, so I wanted to check here.

Thanks,

Stephen

aquarium salt is not the same thing as marine salt))) don't be silly. i also think that nerite larvae needs fully marine water. i would just set up a small salt water tank for them and see how they do.

I read brackish water was enough.
maybe, but you will still need marine salt. aquarium salt is not the same thing

here is me collecting olive nerites in Florida. no need to breed them or pay for them if you live in Florida

I would love to be able to go out and collect that many of that SIZE!!!! Nerites are wonderful, and hardy, but they won't breed outside of proper brackish water (they will, however, still lay their eggs).

I actually saw one that had hatched. It was a total fluke I could even see it. As i got closer to the glass, one of my fish ate it.

I'm sure it wouldn't have survived, as you say, but it did hatch!
