I am looking for a net dip or soak that will prevent tranferring anything from one tank to another. I have 3 nets for each of my tanks, and never use a net on 2 tanks, but my niece does. Her mother simply is not the type that will worry about that stuff, but she will use a dip if I can find one for her.

Any clues? Thanks

as long as your not gonna put it in the tank then methylene blue is very potent and kills just about everything it touches. its an old school medication for just about everything. but while it kills the bad stuff very effectively it is also extremely brutal on filters and fish.
it will also dye anything permanently. i know a lot of shops use this for net dips due to its effectiveness.

I have been using a bucket of very hot water with lots of salt. I will probably use a salt/methylene blue mixture now. I don't mind my nets being blue ;) Of course, I won't be able to use this for decorations.
I assume after dipping or soaking they should be rinsed thoroughly

+1 for the saltwater. Although it's not 100% effective, it's cheap and you really won't encounter any problems from using it.

Jungle labs sells a net dip. Cheap and easy to find. I believe theirs is potassium permanganate. Won't stain nets or other ornaments. Can be used to clean plants before intro.

thx. he's constantly on the sauce lol.

methylene blue is probably one of the most potent net dips/treatments out there without going to bleach. obviously bleach can be used but you need to rinse it a lot just to be sure. meth blue can be dipped into then straight into the tank.
it is a very old school med and kills just about anything but as i said it will also stain just about everything. and it is extremely hard on filters and fish, i wouldnt even use this stuff at quarter strength on scaleless fish like loaches. i havent used this stuff since about a year after i started fishkeeping when i was 6 (19 years ago, wow time flies:cry:). now im older and can understand the stuff more i wouldnt recommend this for anything other than a net/equipment dip (certainly nothing porous like rocks, wood etc).

if you do use it, then please, do so with care. mixed with salt it would kill anything in a dip as mentioned above.

I will make a mixture of this for my niece's mom, and myself. Sounds easy enough if I can dip then right into tank, without rinsing. Thanks!
