So wanting to be a good little fish keeper, and not cross contaminat, I have a net for each tank. Today I was doing my noraml Tank care gravel vacing, when I realized If I am using the same gravel vac for each tank; how is this different for nets. Also only have one alge scrubber.

So how many of you multi tankers have complet kits for each tank, gravel vac, net, scrubber; for each tank.

The difference is that nets can pass on some pathogens that only occur on the slime of the fish. If you really want to do things right then you should use separate algae scrubbers as well. one gravel vac should be fine but you should let it dry at least 24 hours between tanks. To be honest though if you´re not running a shop it shouldn´t make such a difference. Just be careful when you are quarantining fish.

The shocking realization of what you were doing must have been priceless.;)

I decontaminate between tanks where necessary. I do use separate nets and I have a separate system for my Q-tanks.

You can also leave your algae pads and nets in a fish safe disinfecting solution!
