I've been trying to net five cutteri out of my 210 gallon tank for about two weeks now. I just try whenever I feel like it but I have had absolutely no luck up until tonight. I decided to grab a flashlight and a net and see what would happen. After about thirty minutes I managed to catch two of them. I actually netted a third but I lost her when I got the net caught in some rocks. I think they are on to my plan now since they continue to outsmart me, not that that's some great accomplishment or anything.

I'm really trying to avoid removing all the rocks and driftwood from my tank but I don't think I am going to have a choice. There are still two more males and one more female that I have to catch. I am moving the cutteri from the 210 to the 300 so it is an upgrade for them. Not only that I really don't think they will want to remain in the 210 after the dovii get tired of letting them bully them around.

Not real sure what the point of this thread is, I just wanted to vent a little.

i hear you dawg.. catching small fishs from a monster tank suck!!

I tried a couple more times last night and once this morning. Still no luck, they are on to my evil ways. I guess I'll take out the driftwood and rocks today while doing a big water change.

Victory is mine (insert evil laugh here). After spending over an hour chasing them, draining about half of the water, using two nets, removing the driftwood, flattening out all of the rocks, and making and using two eggcrate dividers I caught them. Nothing to it! :nilly:

Sounds like you had a boatload of fun! :D

Oh it was great. Now I just have to redo all the aquascaping once I can see into the tank. Fun, fun...

hahahahhaha i hate trying to catch anything in my driftwood filled tanks... even catching the 10" pleco is a pain... removing all the hiding places is a must..

catching smaller fish can be a pain but i have found that if you have two people it can be a lot easier using one person to kind of herd them to one side allows you to focus on just catching them while the other person focuses on keeping them out of hiding and herded into the catching area
