It's never a bad idea to have a network of people you trust. You never can be too careful in our hobby. People get ripped off everyday.
I have been talking with a certain individual in Thailand about shipping rays over to the USA. He had some deals that sounded really great, almost to good to be true. There were a few red flags that were raised so I did some checking around and a friend in Singapore told me he is a scammer. Always double check your sources if you can guys and gals.

Only fish Ive personally heard of being shipped with ease from overseas are betta

I don't think he's a ray keeper to be fair. I'm jealous that you have a network to safeguard you from these issues. I would be interested in creating a network like this for other ray keepers, but I think it's a bit easier to distinguish scams stateside.

Of course it is possible. Very possible with no issues. People import and export big and small fishes daily all around the world. But yeah, the costs are huge. No idea what the prizes for Singapore to the US is, but from like Brazil to Germany its already super huge. Just the shipping costs are huge and you really need to import a lot of fishes (boxes) to not lose a lot of money.
