I have had my tank set up for about 8 months now... I have a pleco and tiger oscar, both which are about 13 inches.

I have a 75 gal. tank, casade 700 and ac 70 running... air stone and powerhead.
...
I currently do not have a light set up for the tank, so it's just slight natural sunlight.
I feed them once a day

I do partial water changes with a python once a week, I would say about 33% of the tank.

The tank gets real clear by the night/next day and stays that way for just a couple of days.. By I would say the 4th day it is getting cloudy again.
It has a slight brownish/tan tint to it.
i sometimes think it may be due to overfeeding bc I see planaria every now and then but I really dont feed all too much, the oscar just eats real fast and most of it seems to come right back out...

not too mention the rate the water evaporates is crazy..

I was just curious to know if there are any tricks to keeping it real clear.
I swear, everytime my mom is visting she also has to bring it up. "You need to ask the petstores how they do it!!"... gets annoying. haha
:nilly:
feel like wc's come too soon!... Thankfully my investment in a python paid off, although I was getting a good bicep workout from all the buckets!

Thanks, Ashley

Do you have the top closed with glass or plexi? that might help with the evaporation problem. Keep in mind that you have two notorious waste producers in your tank. I would suggest going with a filter system(s) 2-3 times your tank size, that might help clear that up a bit. When was the last time you cleaned your filters? you may have clogs in your Mech filtration. Bear in mind that I don't have any Oscars, so these ideas of mine may be out of left field, but you will get replies to either confirm or deny them.:D

Post some pics of it, that will help diagnose the problem. And we are all visual type people, gotta see the pics:popcorn:

Add more biological filtration. I'll bet that will solve your problem after a few weeks.

I would say that it is getting too much natural light a day. Cover the tank for a few days except to feed and I'll bet that it is crystal clear. Basically you need to move the tank as far away from windows as possible or put up some light blocking curtains so you can control how much light it gets. Also I would bet that your water parameters are out of wack.

I have a glass cover on top along with a wooden canopy.

It really isn't that close to window, It's on the same wall so if it is open, it will get a slight amount of light on one of the sides. Moving a fish tank?!! lol, easier said than done, for sure.

I do have carbon in my filter, I have a feeling that the filters need some attention. I don't do much maintance on the canister. I am always worried that rinsing them may cause more of a problem. I will attempt to clear what I can in tank water though..

I do not have any drift wood. It is actually quite an empty tank :( I am just so dissapointed that in the 2 years of owning a fish tank I havent been able to have crystal clear water ever, and when it is clear it doesnt stay very long!!
