you are tired!!!

I didn't do my usual waterchange on the 600 this weekend with all the fishing I got in. So after another 12hr day at work I decided to do a waterchange.

So the gravel vac. and draining part went okay. by the time I started filling the tank it was about 10pm. I sat on the couch to relax and dosed off for a few minutes, woke up and pulled the python higher so the water would spash and make noise. I thought once the splashing stopped, if I fell asleep this would wake me. I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG:WHOA:

I woke up after who knows how long, took a look at the tank and :WHOA: $hit!!! The tank was FULL. I the take a look at my wet dry, UH OH !!! thats filled to!!!
Not to mention my stand and my floor is now wet about 2 feet in evry direction!!! When I built the stand, I siliconed all the seams to hold water just for a mistake like this, and it was almost 5" deep!!!
The only problem is I had to cut a notch in the 2x6 to reach the outlet, that is where all the water was coming out from.

I jump to my feet and try to siphon the water out. NOPE!!! I think I drank more water than I siponed!!!

So I run outside and grab my 20g wetvac, rush though the door and the door knob hits the wall and makes a hole in the dry wall. Suck some water from the wetdry, then start on the stand.
I then go to grab ALL the towels in the house, about 30 towels. I then call my friend to come up and help and bring MORE towels. I finally get done about 2:00am.

I must have dumped out the 20g wetvac about 5-7 times, and used ALL the towels.

Thank goodness my wife was asleep. I am sure I would have to get rid of the tanks in the house if she seen that.

DO the math!!! That was a TON of water on the ground. I just hope the wood floors will be okay!!!

The next morning she asked why are ALL the towels wet?
UUUUUUHHHHHHHH HONEY, YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW...

So how bad was the flood??????

Dude-

I so feel your pain, but I wasn't smart enough to silicone the stand up and make it almost to where it would hold water.

Thank god for 24 hour Jewel Food Stores (To steam cleam the carpets!)

I has taken me until tonight, to get back in her good graces!

Just long enough for me to tell her that I just got another (38)........

If my kids didn't love the fish, I'd be swimming with em!

What kind of flooring?

If it's carpet I highly recommend steam cleaning several times.
I had a 150 bust a seam while I was gone and my carpet took all of the 150 gallons!! I had to steam clean it at least a dozen times to get the smell of dead fish out. Sucked bad!!

wood floor!:( i don't know about that... i hate to imagine my tank doing that to my wood floor too. it's a painful lesson learned. i would suggest you get a water regulator. it has a meter on it, if you calculate the water needed you can dial it on the regulator and it will fill the tank up to the set-gals needed. just a safety device, but being awake and aware of it is the best thing to do. sorry to know it went all the way that far...:(

Wow, I didn't notice the wood floors part (so forget my carpet post).
If it's a true solid wood floor, not the fake stuff like Pergo, it will probably warp and need to be sanded flat once it's done warping. I've seen it happen more than a few times in my line of work.

Yeah...I was cooking dinner, doing the laundry, and trying to do a water change all at the same time. The floor was soaked!
