I wish ppl would read up before getting channas.I'm not trying to upset anyone so calm down, but too often i read a thread about getting a first channa and it ends "It jumped the tank R.I.P"
To keep a channa in a uncovered tank is more or less a deathsentence waiting to happen,it might happen after a day,a month or a year...but it will happen!
With a possible ban on wildcaught fish every one is important if we want to continue having them in the hobby.
So PLEASE do yourself and your fish a favor and cover your tank.

If any admin thinks it worth it make this a sticky so it may save the life of atleast some fish.

Hi,channas especially the bigger species are hard to keep in a covered tank, immagine what would happeh to them in a tank with out a cover.

It is quite easy in fact,a metalframe with mesh works for me,i know other use lexan for bigger fish. For smaller glass works just fine
Its even more important with a big fish as they may injure themself in the fall even if you are home and can return it to the tank fast.

I use plastic screen with pvc pipes to cover my pond. My little puppy walks on it. lol

Plastic sheet from any good DIY store does the job. As Gigas has said it is sometime difficult to keep them with a cover. I lost a 14 year old Obscura, My first snakehead through jumping through it's cover. He dislodged it rather than went through it.

thanks for the advice dbb but i have never had any fish an uncovered tank, in fact i find uncovered fish aquariums hard to get hold of over in england
