Title says it all. I have been feeding my motaguense feeders every 2 weeks since he was 3 inches. It takes ONE time to get feeders with parasites. And guess what? After 6 months of feeding and being naive, I finally became unlucky. I'm watching my motaguense slowly succumb to whatever illness was given to him:( water parameters have been checked. Don't expect him to make it through the day. DON'T RISK IT. DON'T FEED LFS FEEDER FISH TO YOUR CICHLIDS.

Yea, feederfish suck. breed your own if you want to do feederfish. Sucks you had to find out on your own. These guys here know their stuff, which is why I might always want a 2nd opinion, but it's always the same as the 1st 90% of the time......so I typically listen to the ol'heads around here.

He most likely succumb to internal parasites, a round of prazi pro could have prevented that, or simply qt your feeders for a few week gut loading them with good food.

Las still has there supply of live feeders filled up to the brim in their feeder tanks no matter how many people out here reads this kind of a post? I never could understand why people would go into their lfs and buy a feed for a few cent to take it home and kill their $300.00 fish.

I've been standing in different stores and too many times to count I've heard people buying feeders and say something along the lines of "I can't want to see the kill.... Etc

Yup. I bet we all went through that phase with our predatory monster fish when we were younger. It's the thrill of seeing nature's climax in our tank. The thrill of the hunt... But I guess I'm old now. Lol. Smash that pellet! Yeah!!! Lol. Id rather have a healthy fish and not have to deal with diseases.

I killed some nice redfin pickerel and yellow perch with feeders. Now I feed them every couple months, and give them and the tanks a good shot of prazi pro after feeding. I also inspect the tanks of the place I buy feeders from. No issues in several years now.
