Hey I've never owned the pond, but I've seen some AWESOME looking ponds and I was thinking about getting an indoor one over the summer. I've seen some people using pools as ponds and I have a few questions. are those pools people use for ponds expensive? Like how much for a decent one? and can you just use a pool filter or do you need some special type of filter? And last but not least this is a really stupid one but if you had a pond like the one I described could you swim in it along with the fish :D

Thanks.

i got my 1100g pool for $100 shipped from amazon.com. their rather inexpensive, and seem to work well. only thing i would have done different is buy another pond liner to put inside the pool before filling, just as an extra precaution to not having 1100g of water in my basement.

filters, you cant use regular pool filters, as their not designed to be run 24/7. you can find a decent pond filter on ebay for around $200, depending on size, with pump included. when all was said and done, i spent a little over $500 for wood and insulation for the framing, pool, and filter.

you COULD swim with the fish, however you need to ensure you have no soaps or oils on you or your bathing suit. a bathing suit would have to be aquarium only, and never washed in soap. and you would most likely need to take a real good shower before hand, with just plain old water.

Oh haha for some reason I've always wanted to raise fish from babies, and when they're big, swim with them :D

How handy (DIY) are you?

You could build a very burley filter from a stock tank.

Not very handy at all. :( I could learn tho.

building a filter from another tank, tub or barrel is fairly simple. Just need a bit of patience, and the ability to cut a few things with a knife or small hack saw, and drill some holes.

not much handyness needed. I personally just dont have the patience to build one, so more power to you if you do LOL

can you go a little more indepth with the build a filter thing? i'm very interested in that
