I just got a bigger tank for the kids, but I had to move their tank. So I did a large water change to make it easier to move it and I had to unplug the filter. I'd figured they can breathe directly from the surface so they should be fine. The tank was probably unplugged for 20-30 minutes. I moved the tank out of the way and started to slowly refill it, but since the water level was pretty low, I still couldn't plug the filter back in so there wasn't any water circulation. I usually add Prime at this point, but I figured I still have some time and I could add the Prime in a bit because since I was moving things around, the Prime was on the other side that I couldn't reach very easily. After the tank was filled half way, one of my Senegals started swimming erratically, then I noticed my BGK breathing heavily, then one of my Delhezi didn't look to good.
All died right before my eyes and I tried, but couldn't save them.
So the lessons here is never assume your fish are tough enough, I should've used an air pump while I had the filters unplugged to keep the water circulaing, and put Prime in right away during water changes
