Hey everyone. Well, when I first started getting into fish, I was about 8-9 years old. I was given a 5 gallon tank with a metal top that held the long type light bulbs. Since I didn't have much money, I was only able to afford guppies and loved the idea that they would breed. I also read that they needed a heater for the water. Without any money, and my parents not knowing, I smartly decided to bend the part that held the light bulb and put part of the bulb into the water. I was lucky that I never burned the house down, shocked myself, have the bulb explode or killed all of the fish. It actually worked without any problems for a while changing light bulbs when they went out. By then I was able to get a real heater. Dumb things to do when you're a kid with no money!!!

imagine if we were still dealing with slate bottom tanks with a burner underneath to heat the slate to heat the water. .. think of the fires!!!
