Well,
I should be getting my new 100 gal acrylic tank soon (about a week) with a stand Full canopy hood and a 40 gallon sump. Getting a good deal on it. Just need to install some lights in the canopy. I was just thinking of going a dual shop light type set up from home depot or something. It is going to house my two oscars, so no special lights really needed for plants or coral or anything. I am also going to be putting a moon light set up in. The sump is a wet set up. I am going to put the heater in the sump as well. Will be using filter socks for the pre and bio balls (thrown in the deal). I wil also be using a sock set up with the Carbon/ammonia remover. I think Chemical filtration is fine as long as it does not make you lazy. I will post some pics when I get it going. Not looking forward to the cycle process though. LOL. Always so eager to stock it. But It will be done right nevertheless. I am sure my terror will be happy to have his own space. I will probably put the turquoise severum in with the O's in the 100 gal. Going to try and make the tank very realistic looking. No air stones or silly decor. Going to try and make it very natural. Any suggestions on the light set up and what not are appreciated.

Waiting on pics. :popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Hopefully next week I will have it. I also am working on an idea to efficiently do water changes in the tank without ever dropping the water level using the sump system. I like doing water changes but adding 40 gallons of water will take a while if you are treating the water prior to adding it to the tank like I like to. Chlorine removal ph balance and temp etc. I was thinking of having two separate tanks hooked up via a pump line that when you turn it on it empties the full tank of ready new water while it empties the used 40 gallons into another tank simultaneously. The Fill tank would have a power head for mixture of treatment materials as well as a heater to bring it to the appropriate temp. The dump tank can have a drain valve on it to empty out old water when done. Once I get some plans drawn up I will post them. I am very excited about the new tank and with the sump set up I have a lot of things I can do with the tank filtration wise.

So I went and saw the tank. I like it a lot. Stand and Canopy are DIY but they look nice and and are very nicely constructed. I will be putting in a dual tube light in the canopy and it already has lunar lights installed. The tank is a true view 100 gallon acrylic with a black acrylic back. The stand has a DJ switch mounted underneath which can controls eights plugs with individual switches for each line. Very nice feature. Lights also installed under the stand. The Sump is actualy a 50 gal with about 40 gal of water space. Room for Bio Balls, heater filter sock, return pump, etc. It also has a bubble catch.

Waiting on current inhabitants to be sold and I should be picking it up this weekend hopefully.

Stocking: I am going to be moving my two Tiger O's in there and maybe my turquoise severum. The O's are for sure though. I was trying to find something my wife wanted to go in there but she has only pointed out either fish too small or fish that require much different water parameters. So I am going to put some ideas I had and also ask for some suggestions and best compatibility with the O's. Listed in order of most desired. I only want to put one maybe two more in with the O's as I do not want to crowd the tank. I do weekly wanter changes and keep water parameters good. Plus with the sump set up it has I will be turning the tank over about 7-8 times an hour if I remember the numbers correctly.

P-Bass (cichla monoculsus or cichla orinocensis)
Electric Blue jack Dempsey
Red Star Flower Horn
Red Devil
Firemouth

No pics yet. I have one on my phone but it would not focus on the tank. As soon as it is in my house this weekend I will take some good pics and post them. Would love to put a P bass in with the two O's in this tank. I think with the filtration it could handle the two o's and the p bass. but just checking
