I just got this tank a few weeks ago and just set it up. It is 72 long x 18 width and 30 high. So that makes it a 120 gallon.
I just started to cycle water and that is where I am at.. I have it on a scaffols and look forward to making a stand in the summer. I have to 500 watt heaters. My dream stock is an arrowana, ray, gars, maybe a bichir.. My question is I think I want to use sand as a substrate. What type of sand should I use. I am located in the Chicago area. I definitely will be looking for lighting in the future.. What steps should I take next, what are reccomenddations and suggestions.. I look forward to some great feedback...

Plan B is to make it a community tank, with tigerbarbs, bala sharks, iridescent sharks, and some catfish...

Agreed with the rest, the length is good, the height is good (maybe even excessive), but its width of 18" that will limit what you can get...

Personally speaking, i would do a community planted tank, but thats just me...

I am considering to make it a community tank... thanks for the sugestions. . I will definitely look at pool sand.. I have spents tons of hrs reading... I am currently looking for glass tops. . To keep the water and fish in and. Garbage out. .. as you can see I still have to clean it up a bit. ..

I plan on making the stand on my vacation next month.. Once I have the stand made, then I will drain the water into tubs and reinsert the water once it is on the stand... I have been scrooling through all the DIY stands...
