Recently aquired a 12" mono and 9" Jag and my oscar harrassed the hell out of the 2 fish but it has now almost completely stopped after 2 days. The jag has dug himself a hole in my substrate and uprooted some plants along with it. But the peacock bass is swimming almost completely vertical and hasnt taken any food since Ive got him. Tried krill, pellets, and goldfish. he shows no aggression as normal pbass do. What do I do?

need more info.. water condition ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temp, PH.. and how you acclimated them before adding them to your tank.

Im going to check perimeters. I acclimated him in a large bag in a rubbermaid with a bubbler. he was in roughly 12-14 gallons of water from his previous tank and I had added 4-5 gallons of my water and left for about 2 hours came back added another 5 gallons then left him for another 1-1.5 hours he seemed completely fine in the container I then did a 3rd addition of my water of about 5 gallons had left him for about 20-30 minutes then drained the water out of the rubbermaid and added him to my tank.

i agree.. stress is a killer for peacock bass. especially the big ones. i know a bunch of folks are gonna tell me i'm nuts..

but does the new tank have a bare bottom? if it does can you put something down in the bottom temporarily to make the peacock bass more comfortable?

maybe add a bit of salt, not a theraputic dose, half of that, it seems to help stressed peacock bass (actually most tropical fish).

I have alot of substrate in the tank including drift wood, slate and a fair amount of plants both floating and ground cover. The only tank I have to put him in is a 12"wx23"Lx30"H is that too small for a couple days temporary fix?

I only have the Mardel 5 in 1 test strips(Nitrate-5, Nitrite 0, hardness 225-250, Alkalinity 80, and ph always shows real low. API Ammonia NH3/NH4+ test kit( reads 0) and API pH test kit(reads about 7.5). As well as a handheld electronic PH tester(reads 7.6). All perimeters seem normal as they are regularely

It is my oscar that is harrassing him do you think if I remove the oscar from the tank he wil be okay? Or do you think it would be better to remove the pbass and put him in the smaller tank alone with some feeder goldfish???
