Hey guys,

Can someone recommend the best heater for a 125 Acrylic?

I hear titanium is the best, but does anyone know what brand.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but I will using for fw initially, only to convert to salt in a few months.

ALSO:

Do you guys think I should do a black back or clear back for the tank?

Was thinking maybe doing clear and using vinyl...

ALSO:

Any review on this Stand?

Thank you!

Those stands look like they are made out of pressboard or whatever it is that they make some furniture out of. I didn't see anywhere on the page where is says what they are made out of. I would contact them and see.

I did buy one of these stands of Ebay thou. It's 3/4 inch oak and very easy to assemble

I've got one as well
it's nice

I have been running a 300W glass Visitherm heater on my 6ft 125g glass tank for 5 years now with no issues. I keep tank at 82, but when I was treating Ich a few months back, the heater had no problem keeping the tank at a stable 86 degrees.

If the only 2 choices for backgrounds are black or clear, I'd definately go black. I myself prefer blue though ;)

I use VisiTherm Stealth heaters and having used many of them over the course of many years, they have earned my trust/confidence…

I have tried two brands of titanium heaters and both brands failed in a short time… I went back to VisiTherm…

I use a 250 W heater on my 125 gal tank… Room temperature in the winter is 68*F and tank temp stays stable at 80*F… Acrylic is a better insulator than glass so you will be able to use a slightly smaller heater…

Wood definitely looks better than pressboard… but for structural purposes alone the pressboard stands still work fine…

I would definitely use some sort of background… I have never painted an acrylic tank so I do not know how ‘permanent’ this would be. If it was truly permanent I would avoud doing it and would use a film type background with a lubricant between it and the glass (which makes it appear much more like a painted background).

I made my stand for my 125 for a little over $100 including the canopy.

The stand you are looking at looks nice and I'm sure it would be fine....seems expensive to me though. You may try a pet store since you won't have the shipping costs.

I would go with a black background. I recently put one on my tank an it looked much better than my other background.
