Hello MFKers,

I am purchasing a 125 Gal Long (Acrylic) with two corner overflows from Tru-Vu - my first large tank EVER!

I have never used a wet dry before and would like some recommendations as to what wet/dry and pump I should get.

Has anyone ever used the AGA brand? Megaflow 4?

Also, when I buy a wet/dry like a Megaflow, does all the tubing and piping come with the set?

Also, Pumps, never used these before...does anyone have a good one they could recommend?

Thank you folks, appreciate any opinons.

Make your own sump, it will be much cheaper. You can get a 30 gallon off craigslist really cheap, get some glass cut for like $10 and make the compartments. Then you just need media, plumbing, and a pump.

If you're going to buy a new megaflow, you would need to go with the model 4 and the total cost after you buy the sump, pump, overflow, and plumbing will probably run you at least $600.

For half that price (or less) you could build a much larger sump which could be custom tailored to your tank setup. Just do something like this in the 40gal range.

If you're set on purchasing manufactured filtration, why not go with a pair of canisters and maybe an ac110?

EDIT: just saw that your tank will have built in overflows, and honestly your best bet is to build your own sump.

i run a quiet one 5000 HH on my 125 and although the turn over rate is nice, there are times i wish i had more.

i have fixed the problem with the debris by installing a power head to push the poo to were it can travel up to the over flow.

But having a power head in a bio-tope tank is rather unsightly.

so if you want a clean tank I would recommend a pump of 1750gph minimum.

Or if you just want the sump to control the bio load and you do most of the cleaning with a vacuum then a pump around 500+gph will do that only.
