My first post. New to the forum. Great site, lots of great info.

I recently purchased a 125 gallon tank complete with a FX5 from my local Craigslist.
Did some reading and love the way JCardona1 setup his monster 190 gallon tank. I am thinking of duplicating the same setup on my 125, and forget using the FX5.

The tank will eventually have pool sand as substrate, live plants and house Discus.

How do you find out if your glass tank is drillable besides actually taking a chance and drilling it? There is a tempered glass sticker on the bottom of the tank but i believe most tanks are tempered on the bottom.
Is the theory "bigger is better" true for a sump system?

If i can't drill the tank, will the HOB overflow setup work just as well?

Do you still have to vacuum the bottom of the tank when using a sump system?

I love the idea of being able to have more volume in your aquarium.

Thanks
