'Mornin! We just purchased a 125 off of CL and it doesn't have any bracing at all. I've looked all around the trim and there's not a spot on the trim where it could've broke, which leads me to believe that it's an older tank. The glass is all 1/2" and the silicone seems to be in good condition. Has anyone here had these older tanks? If so, how long did they hold up?
Another thing about this tank is that the front piece of trim is coming off at the corner. I don't think this is structural, so can I just re-silicone that corner, or should I take the whole piece off and redo it? Any help would be awesome!CIMG1034.JPGCIMG1035.JPG

I have a 90 without a cross support, it's 20+ years old. I do plan on resealing it because some of the silicone edges are looking a bit ragged, but I've never had a problem with it.
re-siliconing the trim is fine.

If you want just silicone a piece of glass into the middle of the tank as a support. My sump has that and it holds great. I don't have even the plastic trim at the top. And 1/2 inch is going to hold allot of force.

I have an older 6' long 150, with 1/2 glass and no signs of a brace either.. has held up for for a long time with no issues. Have thought about siliconing glass in the middle but never made it that far.

I would eurobrace a piece of glass across the center anyway just to support the glass lids.

1/2 glass is very strong, should be fine with out a brace.
