Hey everyone, :)

I've been in the hobby since December and I picked up 7th tank this weekend, a 125. The largest tank that I have below this one is a 55 that houses a pair of juvenile JD's. I hope to have the tank up and cycling by this weekend so I would like to get some ideas laid out for stocking the tank.

There are only a few guidelines:
1) I would rather not move the JD's to the 125 as they are currently thriving and just had their first spawn a few days ago.

2) I would prefer to own medium-large sized cichlids.

3) My LFS has a beautiful ornate bichir that is about 5-6" and I am considering adding it to the tank but it is not a guarentee that it will still be there when I am ready to add fish. I will worry about that later.

Thanks for your help in advance!

You never know what will work with out trying. There are exceptions though two unpaired apex predators like Dovii and Umbee Na! Dovii and Beani Na! ect...

If the JDs are a pair(m+f) that could be a problem down the line.

I like cons...big males with lump heads... go with anything. Just make sure the Con is smaller than the rest or at least equal size. And try to get something that doesn`t resemble the demps. Then they may not see it as competition.

It would be better to add any new fish at the same time as the Demps. Instaed of letting them establish and then adding. I have had fits trying to make this work in my 125 community at times.

One more question:

Would I be able to add anything else into the tank with one jag and one texas?

i think the jag and texas would be fine
just dont, IMO, mix central and south americans. it seems to lead to competition issues. i guess it's from them not meeting in the wild.
