I've been considering for awhile getting a 125G (72"X18"X22") tank with the main focus of the tank being a school of 4-6 freshwater red-tail barracudas (Acestrorhynchus falcatus)

Also, wanted a stringray (Motoro) and a Bichir of some sort, probably Dinoasaur Bichir. Maybe some other fish if theres room (small gar? Rope fish? Pleco?).

Are red-tailed barracudas OK tank mates with stingrays? I can't find that people do it often. I'm concerned the ray might frighten the 'cudas, or that the 'cudas might try to attack the ray (I've heard some fish might bite it's eyes when it hides in the sand?) but my intuition says it should be a killer tank.

I've had a 55g for several years with some wimpy fish in it, and I think its time to step up and get some big-boy fish.

Thanks!

Sounds like a pretty sweet tank, I've never seen rays with Cudas before, You might as well try it out if you have another tank to put the ray in if it gets out of hand. A Bichir sounds like a good tank mate as well, I personally like more than one Bichir in a tank but I guess its just personal preference.

i kept rays with armatus, tiger fish, but not cudas but I'd figure its the same,

If you can get large Red Tail Cudas (Ace. Falcatus) from the start and a smaller size Bichir like Gold Dust or Senagal it might work - if the bichir is larger or a 2ft species it might eat them - I lost a GATF to a senegal. As for rays - Cudas are pretty skittish esp around larger clumsy fish, I've never tried it, but I suspect the Cudas would be blasting the glass left and right whenever the ray got near them.
