I posted a thread about moving to a new house w/ well water and water softener system. Had the water tested to see if it’s ok for humans and fish. Was worried about my CA cichlids and soft water. A test was done, but still waiting on the results. I noticed a lot of white residue on the faucets, and tested the ph. The ph came in 6.8 out of the tap and 7.0-7.6 depending which tank. Some have more crushed coral than others. Anyway just moved everything over using tank water from the old house, mixing w/ new house water. So far, all fish seem fine and thriving.
I gave away the old 150g tank, stand, lids, and lights to a guy who would reseal and use the tank. All I cared about was for someone to enjoy it.
Very happy so far and hope it works out long term.
PS: my 25g has a Rio Otapa swordtail colony and never realized how many were in there. Adding some of the larger ones to the 125g.

Congrats on the move.. The fish look like they're right at home in the new tank.. hopefully you can get that algae growth again on the back and side glasses...?

Thanks! Not sure if I’ll have the same success w/ the algae because this one isn’t by a window. We shall see.

Great looking tank! I like the plants you have up there on the left.
Thanks!

Those swords are gorgeous. Love their spotted pattern.
Thanks, they get large too. Biggest ever was 6”. Have a 25g colony tank and they breed like crazy. Add bigger adults to this tank. Fry don’t have a chance in this tank w/ the cichlids and tetras.

They’re simply gorgeous. Wish I was able to source those instead of the Alvarezi.

Update. Fish seem doing better than before the move. No heavy breathing, odd behavior and colorful. All indications of healthy. I’m testing water tomorrow. Only have tested ph so far. But concerned about the c. Rostratus. She hasn’t been eating since before the move. She keeps bumping into things. Wondering if it’s an age thing. Doesn’t appear sick.
