okay.. i have been interested in doing some type of planted tank for a while now, and i finally took the first step today. i purchased a 17 gallon long rimless tank... i also picked up the wood for my stand. now my question to you is, From a to z what do i need?? type of substrate? do i need co2? how much light? what types of chemicals or food do you need for the plants? how do you promote good colors? and i can go on and on with questions. at this point all i know is that u need water and a tank. thankyou for any kind of help!!!... PS i would like this tank to be pretty heavily planted, didn't know if that would differ any of your answers..

make sure you get a good high output light, and use something like fluorite the bottom for the plant roots, then put your gravel or sand over the top of it.
