Alright I am finally getting a fish tank. I haven't had one for about 3 years now. I had a 100g before but now i want a 200g. Anyway to my question, the four fish i want are a Jardini arowana, tiger shovelnose, black ghost knife, and either a peacock bass or green terror.

I know all these fish get big and most have attitudes but do you think the tank will be sufficient and that these fish can live together? I know jar's are especially mean and i could replace the jar with a black aro cause I love both. So tell me what you guys think and any advice would be appeciated!

By the way I am obviously new to the board and think this is the best site and absolutley love monster fish! I would love to eventually have a pond and get a red tail cat as well but that's way in the future lol! Thanks again and sorry for rambling.

First off, Welcome to the site arolover5! :) as for the jar + tankmates have you read the sticky about jar tankmates? reason why I ask that is that Jars can be one of the mean monsterfish however every fish is unique, some are VERY aggresive (like mine) and wont want any other tankmates except feeders but some dont mind having company at all... guess it has been said before that the "your way" method is the best way to find out and dont get discouraged about some of the horror stories about jars and tankmates because a jar is and always will be one of the most beautiful fishes/aro's i've had IMHO...well, my Fave next to Asians ofcourse but no less attractive than them. one more thing, you may get a higher success rate with keeping jars and tankmates together if your 200g has alot of plants and hiding places for the tankmates in case your jar decides to go postal.... alot of plants that blocks direct line of sight between the jar iand its tankmates may give you more luck :) again, in behalf of every member here welcome!:)

Jardini have been known to be killers and may not be able to be put with the fish you suggested. As for tank size, more important then volume is the dimensions of the tank. Do you know what the dimensions are?

Edit: Just noticed you are in Florida, I do believe the only aro legal for you to own in the silver arowana

once the jars hit a foot they kill EVERYTHING except for a select few jars

welcome, it would work if your jardini isnt aggressive, just get the black

Thanks for the reply gonzy and i just checked out the jar tank mate thread and wow i was a little surprised how aggressive they really are. I have owned a silver and it was very mild tempered. I love the black aros as well so i may go with that, i just wanted the smaller, more asian looking jar. Thanks again and i will take what you said into account when selecting the fish for my tank!

Alright guys thanks for the replies and after hearing just how brutal the jar can be i will probably opt for the black. how about my others, would they go well with a black? Also what are the chances of getting a green aro in america? Are they illegal to own or just illegal to import? They are awesome and would be extremley happy to own one!

0% of getting an asian aro there illegal in all ways

This means black aros are also illegal in Florida
