I've decided to turn my 20G tank into a planted tank with ghost shrimp. This will be a tank for the shrimp to breed in. I haven't decided if I will upgrade the lighting to a 24" CF hood, or leave it as is. I'm going to be getting the plants for this tank primarily from my 135. I've added flourite, and it has already cleared up quite well in only a half an hour. Currently the filtration is a hydro IV with an ac50 powerhead running the filter. I'm going to do reaction CO2, and Greg Watson ferts.

gregs fert are great and save lots of $$$ with big tanks dry ferts are a must

i hate yeast CO2 i tried it a few times

i shopped around and found a 5lb tank for free just needed a hydro test $15 found a cheap regulator for $30 at harborfreight then another $5 for a needle valve

the only good thing about yeast is its hard to generate enough CO2 to kill your fish which i did with my presurized system

1st time i setup the system turn it on waited about 1hr cool pearling left to go someplace came back 3 hrs later all fish dead or on their way

It is a 20G tank. A pressurized co2 system would be way to much for this tank. My 135 has my 20 lb pressurized tank.

That is a gold clown knife. He isn't in that tank anymore. It was just used for a QT tank for him.

Looking good, I always appreciate a nice planted tank! Good work!

Be interested to see some more pics as time goes by where everything grows into the tank. Cool start.
