Update...
Sorry for the camera work, and the lighting/reflections of the glass. This video was impromptu.
It has been just over a week since the new tank was setup. 10 days now actually.
Nitrate filter is working good. The 3 full litres of Matrix seem to be having a nice effect also. I have a nitrate reading of around 15 today, having done no water change as yet.
I will admit, I do still condition the water with three conditioners, but that wouldn't be enough to cut the nitrate that much.
You will see the new couple, the two 2JDs. The male is bigger, and more colorful. He has pretty much fully healed from his initial wounds either at the pet store, or whoever brought him in there.
The female JD is still kinda shy, but she was hungry today so she posed for the camera nicely
At feeding time you will see a little aggression in this video. When they aren't competing for food, they are rather docile. The guy who helped me setup my tank said he had never seen such docile oscars. There are times they will do the same aggression you see in this video, but it is rare.
Ich has almost filly left the tank. The male JD has ich still, but he was so stressed from what happened to him, it doesn't surprise me. Ash has fully healed, Flare had it for a moment too. I ended up buying some ich medicne from the store. Even after cutting the recommended dosage in half, the bottle was still not large enough for the tank size according to my calculations. I needed 187.5ml of medicine for 300 gallons (total) and the bottle was 118ml. I just used the one bottle. It seemed to be effective enough. The tank temp is still at 83.7-85.
Loaches never caught the ich (fingers crossed still) They are quite happy.
So to recap:
265 gallons + ~45 gallons in the sump
4xOscars
2xJD (pair)
1xBlood Parrot
5xClown Loaches
1xPleco
Feeding this morning was:
3xBlood Worms thawed
3xKrill thawed
3xBeefheart thawed
Hope you enjoy. Comments always welcome.
