I just got a 29 gallon aquarium to replace my scratched 20 gallon. I bought it from glasscages and it is acrylic. The problem was that the old filter wouldn't fit on the back side as these tanks have an extra lip inside. I went out today and bought a Penguin filter for it, and it works good.
The old filter wouldn't fit very well, and the intake tube was being pushed forward a tiny, tiny bit. It worked fine for a little bit, then had trouble getting the water up in the tube. I ended up placing it on the side of the tank where there is no lip, but then the hood wouldn't fit on the tank anymore. With the Penguin, it sits great on that little lip. Plus, the penguin has the bio wheel which I prefer. I am running both filters for now until the new one is settled.
Just thought I would add a note about this in case someone else has the same problem. The acrylic was very good priced, and is perfect in every way except the lip thing.
P.S. I know the scratch probably won't hurt the tank. However, if you read some of my other threads, you will see the trouble I have had with glass aquariums lately.
