If a razor wont take it off you might have to try drastic things...........like toilet bowl cleanter followed by a serious rinse session.

Then another rinse session.

and another

ect.

haha yea, you might have to use some of the more hardcore chemicals and just rinse the heck out of it when finished...maybe CLR/Limeaway or something...

Like they said...

Did vinegar cut it at all?

Did you let it soak?

When I lived in coastal South Carolina my tanks got water stains around the rim. Never did discover an effective way to remove them. I still have one of those old tanks that I'm using as a sump, and many years later it still has the stains.

Muriatic acid is like turbo charged vinegar. Just use it outside. It will fume up the house and your fish tanks will be banned for life. Toilet bowl cleaners are good but I have found that they are not all created equal. Some work great and others don't. When using vinegar or anything else, you have to let it sit and give it time to do its job.

And you need to drain the tank before using any chemical.

Home depot sells paint scrapers that are basically a razor blade with a handle for leverage - that and acid (try horticultural vinegar from a gardening store - it has more acetic acid than grocery store vinegar, but not as harsh as muriatic acid for the pool)
