New 30 Gallon Goldfish Tank

Hello. I have a new 30 gallon Goldfish tank that will have one Oranda IM moving from the other 30 gallon tank. I was wondering if I put my old filter media into the new filter if I should put the Oranda in or should I wait??? I had such a terrible time a year ago cycling my other tank and IM just really worried. Thank-you.

Yes, putting old media in a new tank will help it cycle faster. The number of bacteria doubles approximately every day under optimal conditions, so even if you take half the bacteria out of your old tank, it will grow back in about a day.
