So I just picked up a 40 breeder today, and I'm trying to figure out what to put in it... As that will determine substrate, decoration, etc...
Originally I wanted an ornamental shrimp tank with a few large fish... Now I realize most large fish will eat the shrimp, so I've mostly tossed that idea aside...
So now my plan in maybe 4-6 fish, the largest I can keep in this tank for life, with maybe a couple cats or bottom dwellers...
What I've come up with was...
Green terrors
Convicts
Firemouths
JD & EBJD...
Now I've seen that GT and Convicts probably won't mix, and GT get too big for a 40 breeder... so scratch them I think...
Will convicts, JDs, and FM get along? I'm pretty sure FM and convicts will both fit size-wise, what about JD/EBJD? And will these three species get along? Looking at 1 or 2 of each, male, no interest in breeding, or the issues a mixed-sex tank can cause...
Along the same lines, will pictus or cory cats either one co-exist with these SA species?
Also wanting to be planted, since the height of the tank is so good for that... probably black sand over organic potting soil... if that is a factor... driftwoos or rockwork also, depending on which species and what they need...
Thanks! My head is swimming with info that I'm having trouble sorting through...
