I will most likely be purchasing this tank within the next week. I'm just getting the tank. I built the last stand for the 270 gallon. I want to do something different this time. Do you think I could use cinder blocks placed like a few inches apart from each other and then add a piece of plywood on top and then foam padding? I dont want this tank setup too high because its going underneath my TV. Its 96x48x24

I have camo netting that I could use to cover the blocks as I did with the last stand which turned out nice.

Thanks

I would be more worried about the moisture damaging the tv than anything else. Cinderblocks will work fine for a stand though.

I love cinder block stands! I have a 55 and a 60 stacked in my (heated) garage next to my 125, just using blocks, 2 x 4's, and plywood sheets to distribute the weigh across the 2 x 4's. Cost me $30 total and took me like 20 min to set up once I got it home. Of course, that's in my garage, wouldn't do it in my living room or anything....

I would be more concerned with the tank.... Tenecor doesn't seem to be what it used to be. You may find a better deal (and better quality) by looking around a little more with some other manufacturers.

Well right now I have my 180 underneath it the past year and dont see any damage yet. Its about 10-12" from the tank.

I guarantee that the TV won't last as long as it should. Especially with all of that moisture sitting right underneither. Unfortunately it's just the way that it is. Water evaporates upwards... I would just be Vary careful about how the lid for the tank was placed.

I would avoid doiong that. But if you have the money to spend on a new tv then fine. If the TV is newer and you are thinking that you will be all set with your warranty, think again.... They will come out and look at the situation before replacing it. And when they see that Tank sitting right underneith the TV, you will most likely be denied the replacement or repair.... Especilly when they open up the TV and find all of the moisture damage that has taken place... Because it Will happen! Just a word to the wise....

Good luck.
