was thinking of getting a bunch of africans
what do you guys think and before you say no here me through heres the plan
i figure in about a year all fish that the africans will be moved to my 180 gallon monster fish wall and all the fish that are now in the monster fish wall will be moved to a new 265 gal tank
let me no what you think

btw i bought the 55 off of craigslist for 60 bucks including a penguin 170 with biowheel, a aquaclear 300, stand, hood, lights, aquaclear mini that i am using now on a 10 gal feeder tank and 2 200w heaters
numerous rocks and deco
what a deal craiglist rocks

hello

i guess i will do what i do best
keep fish

if you're going to eventually move the fish into the 180 then go for a colony of frontosas. if you have the money to shell out go for Mobas. they, from what I've heard and read, are fairly slow growers so should be ok for a year in a 55 until going into a 150. hey, how about fronts and clown loaches. :naughty:

ideas for setups that could remain for life in the 55:

breeding pair of Cryptoheros. sajica, C. spilurum, C. nanoluteus or C. sp honduran red point
breeding pair Thorichthys. aureum, T. sp mixteco blue, T. sp mixteco gold or T. helleri
8-12 dithers (medium rainbow species, medium barb or larger tetra species, mollies, platys or swordtails)
6-8 yoyo, zebra or clown loaches (if clowns they'd need to move to the 180)
1-2 bristlenose plecos

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. frontosas would be nice!! I should have mentioned that before!
you plan sounds like a good one but I have no idea where you would go to get the 265;) (inside joke everyone....dont ask lol)

gee i wonder

That does sound like the perfect setup for doing some fronts. That's what I have been doing for the last year with one of my 55's. My fronts are around 6", maybe bigger. You could go with some other lake tang. cichlids in there as well. There is a cool place in chicago, called king coral, if you are wanting to do a road trip to pick up some fish. They specialize in lake tang cichlids. Most of their tanks are all F1 cichlids and they are all between $5-$7.

great info guys
thanks
mike

I'm doing a similar Tang setup in my 55 right now. I have 10 F1 Mpimbwe blue fronts that range from 2.5-3.5" and 10 1-2.5" Neolamprologus pulcher. these fish will all move into my 150 gallon once I get moved back out and set the 150 up again. there will also be several Synodontis cats and a bristlenose or 2. :D I'm very strongly considering doing a second front setup with a trio of F0 Moba's and a small group of 6-8 Neolamprologus leleupi. For bottom dwellers in that setup if I do it I think I'd have to go with clown loaches. :grinyes: Of course that would eventually lead to a third front setup because I'd want to keep 10-12 F1 Moba's from the first spawn. :woot:
