New 55 gallon. How would you stock?

Setting up a 55 gallon in the near future. I will eventually get a 125gal but I'm moving in about 18 months and don't want to deal with setting up and then tearing down such a huge tank so quickly.<br><br>I'd like 1 or 2 large and interesting fish. Keeping in mind that the fish will be sold or moved to a larger tank in 18 months, what would you suggest?

Any advice? Oscar? Jack Dempseys? Convicts?

Like I said I'm looking for maybe 2 largish fish that will only stay in the 55gal for about 18 months.

I would say no go on the oscars, but a pair of jacks, pair of cons, a pair of salvini, or a pair of nicaraguense would be really rewarding

ok heres an idea i was going to try get two t5 acintinc blue bulbs, with black gravel and get bunch of things that glow in the dark for decorations then go buy like 100 neon tetras View attachment 736200

The tetra idea is cool but not really my thing. Maybe I'll go with the Jacks and a school of smaller fish.

Ive always likes rainbow fish. mostly pretty cheep and quick enough to get away from the jacks most of the time.

I like the idea of a male/female pair of cons. Once they start breeding they are a lot of fun to watch. They interact with eachother and are always busy.
