thanks turtle i have another 55 that's brackish im going to be adding sand too once the 4 ft of snow melts heh i went out in the snow to get the sand and rocks for this tank but they are all very happy so it is worth it
I think it looks good also. The only thing you may need to do is space the rocks out a little more for caves. It's hard to tell from the pic how deep the spaces are.
yeah i was using my camera from across the room and its a cell phone heh but right now they have tons of room all the cichlids are about 2 inches and love hiding in them and the rope fish loves swimming around them the pile of rocks in the corner is hiding a under gravel filter with sponge rings in it and a layer of charcoal in bags but there is a lot of room behind it for them to hide
your tank looks nice as is but because you have quite brutish cichlids then maybe some of the anubias plant family. they need tied down onto the rocks or wood until they take hold which can take a few months but they are extremely tough plants when anchored.
