Just took advantage of petco's dollar a gallon sale and picked up a 55. I'm debating between 2 different stocking options so I thought I would get some opinions.
The first Is Pretty basic, cardinals or neons, serpae's or some other deeper bodied tetra. Sterabia or Julii Cory's. Some form of smaller Pleco probably bristlenose. I like smaller schooling fish. So if you guys have thoughts on this I'd love to here it.
Second ( which im leaning towards) is a school of Columbians or buenos Aries tetras. Pleco and a Pictus catfish. I'd still like to have a school a Cory's just not sure what kind (don't want the Pictus to eat them).
What do you guys think? Also not sure in how many Columbians or buenos aries would be ok in a 55.

depending on what else you stock, you could do up to about 20 ba or columbians with good filtration

I like the first, but I've had bad experiences mixing cardinals with serpae and similar tetras. Id rather use hatchets or pencilfish

I have serpae's in a 29 with neons right now with no problems. But I know they can be a little nippy.
20 Columbians would be cool. I'd still like to have a small school of Cory's. Not sure what kind. I like sterabias and julii's but I'm sure a Pictus could eat them. Any ideas on Cory's?

PERSONALLY imho, I would go for something a little more menacing. eg: pair of some sort of cichla, or idk. A bigger fish. small school of angels?

It's a 55, so no cichla obviously. Ad for angels, i like the idea of perhaps a pair with a school of larger tetras
