I am giving the order of new 550 gallon tank. The permanent residence will be Salvini ( I have), Blackbelt ( I have), Festae ( I have) , Dovii, Trimac, Oscar ( I have) , Jaguar ( I have) and Carpinte ( I have) . Dovii and Trimac can be both, one of them or none of them. It depends on the importer.

Is there anyone who have bred these species in a community? Will Dovii and Trimac cause trouble? With strong optical barriers within the tank can I prevent fights and deaths?

thanks for advices...

One anything breeds they will try to kill everything else.

i guess you can separate that big ass tank in to 3 parts!

I would never seperate such a tank in 3 parts.. that's just a waste.

As for Trimacs breeding, someone I know has done it in a 1440 liter tank.. I think that's around 400 gallons. With that said, breeding Trimacs in a community is always going to be a risk.

Dovii I really can't tell.

First of all thank you for the advices.

In fact I believe the community tanks formed from only the males but the species gonna be the American Muscles and in order to divert the aggression amount and the focus of the males from the others to breeding and the female, i choose to have a couple. This have one disadvantage which is the eggs and the free swim of the frys. But I only experienced this tactic with the Salvini couple which ended with the dead of the bandit Salvini male killed by the couple. the others have no harm from the couple.

I need some serious advice from who really had the species in one tank.

Mabey alot of cover will help. Do you have a pair of everything you mentioned? If so you might run into problems if everything decides to breed close together, and that would be a ton of fry! If you start everything out young in there you should be cool. Good Luck and I would like to see some pics of this monster tank!!!

I don't have the Dovii and the Trimac but I have the others. My Salvini couple already spawned and 30 of the frys survived and they are nearly 1" now.

The pictures of this tank will be uploaded later when it is build. Now I am collecting the prices from the producers and the systems they will refer to me. But be sure from building to living every step will be pictured and uploaded.

Stay away from dovii if you want a community, they are swift and vicious killers when they decided to focus on an individual

I had a Dovii and Umbee in a 240 gallon-so anythings possible. With that said I would steer away from breeding pairs and keep males. 550 is a lot of water.

Dovii and Umbee??? :screwy: Man, love to have those together. But it is very hard to find those here, my friend brought my Festaes from Germany, and same friend of mine will bring Dovii and Trimac juves from England if possible.

Anyway only males is another option as I mentioned before, all the fishes will not be bigger than 3" so the big space and small fish will go on for a while. After if the breeding happens as you said the breeding pair can go to another tank and only the males can stay.

It might work for some time but once they start reaching their adult sizes you will likely have to separate. Breeding pairs of a single of these species have been reported to take 300 gal tanks for themselves... they might breed in a 125 just fine but that doesn't mean they won't take more space if available.
