New 550 gallon pond

So I just filled my new pond, it's an aboveground pond. 550 gallons. How long do i let the water stay until I can put in fish? Any recommendations on a good pump/filter?

do you have any tanks to sponsor media from? pond filters come in all shapes and sizes but most do diy solutions. I myself use an existing skimmer box on the pool along with a 5' 100gallon tank filled with mostly mechanical media. Most around seem to adapt 55g water drums as an easy filter base. Also laguna pumps seem pretty popular. Overall post your idea and we can help out. Diy is typically the name of the game for on the cheap ponds...or just ponds in general as well.
