Hi, I recently got a nice 55 setup for cheap. ($100 including a nice filter, lighting, stand, canopy, fish, fish food)

I am going to camp from saturday to tuesday, but it will be cycled by then.

I was wondering what to stock, monsterish fish-wise. These are a few things I would like to put in:

1-2: Bichirs... enlighten me on which ones would be appropriate.

1: Some sort of knifefish. My LFS only has a CK, so where can i find a African Knifefish, or a species that will stay small enough.

and any other ideas... of course its gonna be a sorta aggressive tank, but give me some other fish to put in there.

well with bichirs. id go with a senegal. they stay smaller than some of the others. m not sure if this is typical, but my senegal is very active and loves swimming all over the tanks and ive seen alot of other types of bichir that seem to like to just sit on the bottom. that just my experience tho.

maybe a couple of the smaller cichlids would work well too. possibly convicts. dwarf pike cichlids perhaps?

you could get a few senegal bichirs. as for the african knife, they aren't that tricky to find. what part of Conn. do u live in?

Central. (southington)

The store i go to only has a CK, and i think it will outgrow my 55.

craigslist and the forums here help....... also, you are close enough to either providence or nyc to make a daytrip of it and get something you really like. call around early some morning and make it an adventure

my bichir swims around when its hungry, hides behind the HOB filter when its fed...so i reduced my feedings to once a day rather than 3 times :D
