Ok so I just bought a 55 G 48x13x18(i think) from one of my buddies selling a bunch on craigslist, and its coming with a Wet / Dry FIlter, and I would like Some advice on what would be best for a Lionfish SPecifically. they like current to hover i believe. It is NOT setup yet.

My goal would be to have a setup with a Radiata Lionfish, with live rock and sand obviously, perhaps some corals that go along with one...(mushrooms??) And how hard is it to breed a lionfish? anyone have any success with a tank of only my size? If i could have some other ooh wow dither fish it would be cool too..
-GOby
-HAwk
-PINEAPPLE! ..........any of those with a Single Radiata, or none with a breeding pair...
ANy pointers of any sort? Even pictures of set-ups, fish, aquariums...:feedback:

I dont care whats tank bred or not... And i am going to have a Radiata regardless. If he gets too big my LFS will give me a deal for a smaller one. Im thinkin of a Dwarf Frogfish and a Radiata Lion. IT doesnt get bigger than 9.8"(lion) . So I am taking my chances..but...

what is the best deal for a filter out fo these choices? HELP ME WITH THAT PLEASE!!

"i have 4 55 setups with 2 55 stands. i also have a 20 fullsetup
with stand, and a few 10s. the filters are either aquaclears or
emperors. i think i also have extra magnum 350's and a fluval 404 and i
think a fluval 204. i also have 2 wet/drys. theres so much **** i really
dont even know what i have for heaters and decor. i do know that there
are heaters for all the setups and i have enough filteration for each
tank and more. all of the tanks are glass, and are almost new (the 55s
are like 4months old) .."
THanks

Be careful with getting a frogfish and a radiata. They have to be big enough so that they don't fit in each others mouths. A frogfish can eat something one and a half times its size. Good luck trying to breed...it ain't gonna happen.

:( ALways Great to hear POSITIVE feedback, thanks man:(

I got dreams!

A radiata can live in a 55, but it will be very cramped. There will be no chance of breeding it in a tank that small. To breed them I'd be looking at a tank that was at least 200 gallons. The larger the tank, the more stable the salinity, pH, temp and water quality. A radiata only gets to a 10" max, a volitan that grows to be 15". Volitan is a HUGE no, I wouldn't keep a radiata in there either, but it can happen.

Ok, i admit i was foolish for saying i could breed them in a 55G, but thats why i have you guys here, to make me realize i'd be a fool, But i kno its not economical to put a Radiata in there for a permanent living quarter, but i need to, Its been a goal of mine ot own for too long...How bout a Hawk and aLion together? just the 2 of em..
PErhaps a Neocirrhites armatus (FLame Hawk)

C'mon now. Well its been a goal of my to keep and arowana and a huge gar, but since I only have a 125 gallon tank i simply dont buy the fish because it would be cruel to keep them in it.

Its our responsibilty not just to let the fish survive, but to thrive in our tanks!

I agree with the term--->"THRIVE"...But, back in my teenage(newbie) days, I managed to keep 2 Volitans in a 60g for over a year....Both measured over a foot...I simply got bored with saltwater and returned the two for a breeding pair of Red Devils....IF I could do it all over agian, I would do the pair thing in a 100g...Of course it would be a species tank, but with a lot of live rock and some coral...
