Hey guys i just got a new sixty gallon tank and a couple sponge filters i wanted to try my hand at breeding just thought i would ask if you guys have any suggestions on a good starting fish for breeding or should i just jump in and do whatever i feel like?

Depends on what you like.
Small fish that are easy to breed: Guppies, Mollies, Platies, Swordtails, Cherry Barbs, Bristlenosed plecos
Larger: Jack Dempsey, Convicts

get a little moonlight for the tank, and you need to research the type or breeding/brooding the species undergoes, look for articles related to adjusting water temperatures and keep all other in tank biology/ph levels very steady and you should do well with time.
