My flowerhorn in his new 60 gallon

Btw i used older filter material..but no ammonia...nitrite and very little nitrate (before adding him) i dont think one fish could hamper.cycling that bad?

Filtration:

Fluval 405 (swapped one carbon tray and one piece of sponge with my existing fluval 405)

50 gallon Hang on (with existing bacteria)

Thanks guys... I hope the minute the tank gets some ammonia it won't blow up... even though I added existing carbon and sponge... nitrate won't show unless there is some ammonia...

I think daily tests should be a good way to go for 1-2 weeks....and its one fish load...which should not be to bad?

I think you may want to do some reading on the nitrogen cycle. cycling requires a source of ammonia. the fish will provide ammonia which will cause the tank to begin a cycling process. since you are using old media you already have a bacterial colony, as long as you used enough you won't have any problems. if you used too little, you will see ammonia readings while the bacteria multiply to meet the increased food levels.

it sounds like you are adding ammonia to the tank? I would not do that, ammonia is toxic to fish which is why many of us advocate fishless cycling, which is one of the only two reason to add it to your aquarium.
