Just got myself a 39x20x20Inch , 70ish Gal tank for £30.00 last week including a few small Air pumps , ect . I am wanting to set it up as Planted tank along with alot of small - medium school fish .

I have odered the Filter which is a Fluvel 405 and have already got the light setup which is a Arcadia T8 Over tank Luminaire .

What you all think ? How should i set it up ( Plants and Fish ) ?

Plants i was thinking about are -

Crinum Thaianum
Giant Torta
Green Myriophyllum
Nuphar Japonicum
Red Ambulia
Red Cabomba
Red Vallis Spiralis
Vallis Torta
Tiger Lotus
Crypt Griffithii
Crypt Cordata
Crypt Ciliata
Hornwort
Vallis Corkscrew
Crypt Lingua
Sagittaria Subulata
Pygmy Chain Sword . . . Ect .

Fish -

Clown Pleco
Twig Catfish
Whiptail Catfish
Cory
Cherry Barb
Lemon Barb
Rosy Barb
Pearl Danio
Zebra Danio
Silver Hatchet
Marble Hatchet
Harlequin Rasbora
Emerald eye Rasbora
Alsort of Tetras
Rainbow Fish
And others if i can .

Any sugestions , advice would be great , please post up here .

Those sound like some great schooling south american fish..am I right..if so, maybe you can thrown some Discus in there..maybe like 4 of them.

Never mind..i didn't see the rainbow fish...some say they don't mix with discus..too frisky..but i have seen it done many times...but discus or no discus your line up of fish will look amazing.

Great thanks , thats not the final stock thats just what i like and have been looking at .

check out this site, people submit tanks for a contest. view the previous years as 2009 is up yet. some are extremely good. it will give you ideas for a lay out and help narrow down the lists.

seems like a lot of different fish. personally i think less fish and bigger schools look bigger. you prob will also need more light.

Ok thank you , the fish are just what i like same with the plants , that is not my final choice on fish that i am going to put in the tank . I am still reseaching on what looks and is best togeather .

I do deffently want a group on the bottom as that is why i have choice Corys and few other Catfish and acouple of small Pleco and lots of smaller fish for the medium and top of the tank and then a small group of large fish to be the center/ main focal in the tank so i was thinking on some Rainbow fish .

I am just really wanting to get some other peoples thoughts and ideas on the tank . I am going to search about on Youtube later , see what there is on there , is if i can get some idea on how the plants should be set out and what fish look best togeather . But i am always open to other peoples thoughts , suggestions , ideas .

Thanks for saying about the light ill have a look in to that .
