ok so im planning on buying a 72 gallon bowfront aquarium, (im buying off craigslist, just need to see it in person before i make the purchase) im just trying to decide what substrate to go with... im going to be keeping African Cichlids, as usual. im not sure if i shoud go with a crushed coral, or some sort of sand or something...im trying to take more time and more of a thoughtful approach on this, becuase i really want to make this tank somthing that i will be happy with for a long time....hmmm what to do...

use pool filter sand. Cheap and looks great.
i agree with that.
i also really like black sand but its harder to find cheep have to get it from the pet store a lot of the time.
crushed coral is nice for buffering but i personally don't like it in the tank

i just swirl the siphon above the sand to pick up most and the harder stuff i will end up sucking some sand with it but if your using a bucket just rinse it and put it back.
i use a python water changer so i just disconnect the hose and set the hose in a bucket in the bath tub to catch the sand when i do the bottom
