I just brought home a 9" fahaka puffer and I'm wondering approx how much to feed it. I've had dogface puffers in the past but this one is much larger. Currently I am feeding clams and krill. Any suggestions on when to stop feeding? He's a pig and I know he'll eat as much as I put in the tank.

i feed mine 3 times a day to keep him fat so hell grow huge fast and it works so if you want him big just feed him nonstop. otherwise id say feed him once a day enough to fill his belly

Thanks, do you have any tank mates with your fahaka? I have heard that it's a bad idea to put any other fish in the tank. Currently he is house with a 11" sailfin pleco but I am going to remove him if the fahaka tries to kill it.

Don't kill it with kindness or overzelousness to create an obese puffer with a short lifespan! Fatty livers is the #1 cause in death for these adept beggars. Most of the overfed food, will just be excreted undigested. A 9", I'd be feeding 2-3x/week, to a nice, rounded belly.

Feeding Your Puffer

if feed my 14 incher about three times a week. I tried feeding him more and at this size it did not make a difference in growth. Chances are when you notice your puffer being mean to your pleco, the pleco will be dead. My puffer never looked at the pleco until the day he bite off half of his head.

i feed my 9" fahaka every other day, just enough to make his belly nice and round. mine will literally eat, and eat, and eat.... and then beg for more. just dont give into "the look" that they give, like theyve never ate in their life.
