Im picking up a new 90 gal with a stand and lights for $75 this weekend!! My first question, does that finally qualify me as owning a monster tank lol? Up till now the 55 long was my biggest :p.

Im thinking of filtering it with an AC 70 and a Hydrosponge III, would that be adequate for the average stocking? I know the 70 is only for up to 70 gallons so Im thinking the sponge could make up the missing 20.

Im hoping to maybe keep 6 F0 Festae in there and try for a pair, or maybe some P Polleni fry or if a friend gets his P. Bleekeri to pair off and spawn soon I may be able to get the remaining yound adults.

Anyways, just excited about getting a big tank lol. :headbang2

2 x hydrosponges III and the AC 70? I've actually got a bunch of smaller AC filters lying around too :p Im trying to filter it on parts I've got hanging around in cupboards and stuff lol. It might come with filters for all I know, I didn't ask :p.

an eventual pair of polleni would look damn good in that tank. The filtration is probably fine if you keep it to minimal fish (i.e. a pair) and do your high volume WC's

I would think a hydro 5 and an AC110 would work, but I don't see why 2xHydro3 and an AC70 wouldn't be fine for a half-dozen growouts or the eventual resulting pair. But you might get lucky and it comes with a filter(s), who knows? It would certainly be OK for awhile at the very least, and you could always pick up another filter down the road.

If your going with ac's and if you already bought the spnge then just add another 70.

I checked and the filter and heater aren't included, but for the price it's still a great deal, even though the stand is pink lol. It does have a cracked bottom but it was repaired with a new piece of glass on top so it's really an 88 gallon tank lol. I have only got the one AC 70 kicking around but I think I've got a 30 also and I've used hydrosponge III to filter up to 30 gallons with no problems. Maybe I would do a trio but I'd prefer not to do more than 2 filtration components. Im religious about my water changes which should help.

On the subject of the fish, the wild caught festae will probably be about 2 inches, how long does it usually take before 6 of them would outgrow that tank assuming no pairs form?

I use 2 ac 110's on my 90. They work great. I would try to go with as much filtration as possibe.

If I had my say in the filtration buying I would run that ac70 and a penguin 350, or the ac70 and a ac110
