i have been gathering materials for several months now so i can start my build.
The time is rapidly drawing near.
The tank will be 975 gal.
here is the design tell me what u think.

all the plywood will be supported by 2x4's 1 foot on center
the tank will also be built modular so it can be setup and tore down if i ever decide to move or something like that it will easier to move

tell me what u think

nice design..
what kind of software that you use???
cannot wait to see...

Looks do-able...

At 13 ft your going to be doing some patching together aren't you (or have you been getting 14 lumber :D)?

Have you calculated the glass thickness?

What are you sealing it with?

4 tons of water...really nice!

Have you got the filtration lined up too? Bottom or back drilled?

Software = Google sketchup?

i like it i am thinking kinda the same thing, escept dimensions would be 8x4x4.

thats a lot of water pressure for a tank you could just take it apart and put it back together that would weaken it it would have to be solid id use some 4x4's in there too

Mike, that's going to be bad ass!! How is the 180 holding up? With your experience building that one I'm sure you're ready to tackle the big one.

Can't wait to see the build thread!!

Get back to sealing that tank!!! Now Mister!

No, wait...'L' shape with 16ft each way!! ya that's it! At least you'll use up all the glass :screwy:.

i will be building this tank in the same manner as i did my 180 gallon tank
2 coats of fiberglass resin plus a couple coats of epoxy paint
my 180 has been up and running for nearly 2 years with no problems at all
as for drilling the tank. i will drill it at the back near the bottom and then set my water level outside the tank with riser pipes.
I am using 1/2 inch glass from my existing 135 gal tank.

This tank will be the new home of my:
24" silver aro
15" DISTICHODUS SEXFASCIATUS
12" pacu
and eventually
2 Florida gars once they grow a little
(11" gar may be a good lunch for a 24" aro)

hope this answers the questions

mike

Can't wait mike:D
