Well my ex-fiance, now girlfriend again/lady partner friend w/e...decided to get me a fish for my birthday present. I was showing her pictures of various cichlids and she liked a particular members Sagittae...which I also liked and agreed..."yes it a nice fish and I want one in the future." At that point she wanted it...and when she wants something...

Anyways, she had me order it (I did so from COTA). She reimbursed me for the cost then I ended up taking her to dinner that night anyway so w/e lol. Gee thanks.

I think it is a male. It is funny to watch my 3.5 inch platinum HRP male kind of kick his a#$ if he gets too close to the nest. Ahab the Blanco HRP is a real bast@#d.

I believe the Sagittae is between 6-8 inches. The fish was very interactive even an hour or two after acclimating. The lady wants to name him/her Pi which I think is well frankly stupid but w/e...What do u think if u had to guess head profile wise...guy or gal?

Stunning younger male you have there. At this size Casper started fill out more, not so much length. So I would not expect a lot of length soon.
Keep us updated on how he progresses.

I am torn between naming him Tonto or Sancho....or Pinto as a runner up. I kind of like Tonto...what do you think?

Well she yelled at me when I said Tonto...and she told me about Sanchos actual slang meaning woops...doh!

I think Gonzo or Pinto for now.

So here is a vid...if you slide it to ~1:00 you can see Ahab and his mistress go ham chasing him away.

Yup you don't mess with breeding Cons, they are brutal. They kept my O in a 1/4 of the tank till I got a divider.

Well just settled on Pi for a name. I ultimately conceded, the GF always wins. It is actually, the easier...softer way. Was wanting to go with a silly/humorous name, but oh well.

Love this fish though only after a couple of days...it follows me around, plays with the air line tubing and moves the air stone... and sort of surfs in it to the top and splashes.

I see now why there is a lot of love for these fish. I am only 3 days in...so have to build on my experience. I have a lot to learn and hopefully he doesn't go John Wick on the tank mates. Hope it is a male?
