New about Arowanas!

I don't know much about them but I know my dad likes them alot. Well I have a few questions about them. Why are some illegal in the US? Like the Red Arow and such. I seen on this forum ya got them like 3-5inches and 3 years laters there 3 feet+! What is the best food to feed them at that young age? Will they be okay in a 20 gallon tank for a few months? Some are illegal because they're endangered(Why doesn't the US captive breed?).
Feed them blood worms, Hikari Carnivore Pellets, shrimp, mealworms, etc. Just get a variety.
They will get ok in a 20 gallon tank for a few months depending on how the big the arowana is. Growing rate is about an inch a month.

They would be OK in a 20g only up to about 5". They can have growth spurts where they will grow 2" in a month. So there is a chnce a 5" will be 9" very quickly.

They can become stunted.. My friend has a 6" Jar in a 10g tank for the past 7 months.. and has'nt grown a bit..
