well Ive finally gotten my first varanid
he is a red, well thats what the store was told by the breeder
I will be picking up the other one this thursday so a week from today
I have had him an hour and I can already tell he is very intelligent
they had never fed him pinkies so I got some for him
when I was giving them to him with the tongs he showed no response at all
but after rubbing it in his face he got excited and latched on
he gobbled her down then licked up the guts that had come out
so he was introduced to two new things and associated the tongs with the pinkie
20 mins later I gave him another except this time he had a heavy feeding response and went nuts
a few minutes later I just wanted to see if he would react to the tongs
as soon as they entered the cage he ran at them and followed their every movement associating them with food
so this over all concludes that in a matter of and hour he learned that tongs = food and that pinkie = a wonderful food full of wonderful prejectile guts lol
